I'm back just in time for summer vacation… and I will fill you in on the new things I will be posting. I couldn't post much during the school year because my room was piled up with the homework that was due the next day. I barely got any free time, but now I can post because there is no school! This summer there will be a new section about pros and cons about new cars on the market.
So now, let's get to the important part of this post: The new era of automotive history. What I mean is there is a new technology that computer software companies ( like Google) have been developing. So what they made is the first ever driverless car that you don't have to control. The question is what is controlling it? The software companies are essentially putting you in the hands of a computer. I know it may sound crazy that there is a computer controlling a car, but it's true!
Check out this video Google posted on youtube!
Google self-driving car project
This car is a prototype, that means that this car is going to go into production sometime soon. But Google still has time to make changes on the car. Google is not the first to develop a driverless car, because I remember when I saw an episode of a show (Top Gear UK) that showed a computer piloted car that can drive itself and no one can be sitting in the driver seat, it was developed by the military.
This is not really necessary for right now, but I think it is a good step into the future, showing us what cars will be doing for us when I get older. I am sketching some prototypes of my own driverless car that I want to make when I grow up.
Happy summer and happy birthday Mister Buddy!

AH! Mr. Buddy got a shout out from Redline! Love it!
ReplyDeleteI have seen lots of information floating around about driverless cars recently. I saw one park itself (and did a very good job!) I have to admit that it scares me, though. I can't see myself ever being relaxed in car that is driverless :) But who knows-- maybe YOU will make the first prototype (in Ann Arbor?!), and if that is the case I will be more trusting.
I am already working on it, I might be able to reveal it in one of my posts, but I need to make one more prototype and then I will start working on the real thing. I'm asking what I should do to really make it perfect, so it can one of the best driverless cars ever. I am really going to push the style to the max.
DeleteAlso, what do you think of Google Glass? I know it's not technically car-related, but I would love to hear Redline's thoughts on that technology.
ReplyDeleteI say that it's a good concept for people to use without having to rush back to their computers. But, I also think that it needs a bit more work, i'm not saying that it's not good, but I think Google needs to do a bit more work to really perfect it.
